Although it is only the middle of September, now is
the time to start thinking about holiday party planning. We offer many services to make your holidays special and
easier on you! We can do your decorations, floral centerpieces,
appetizers, full dinners, or you could even have your holiday party at the
English Hedgerow; so you don’t have to clean up before and after. Also, this is the second year the Hedgerow Bistro will
be offering a take and bake Thanksgiving Dinner. It includes all of the fixings such
as stuffing, gravy, potatoes, fresh homemade dinner rolls, vegetables,
pies, and of course…the turkey.
We are taking orders now so please give us a call or drop us an
email. |
The
Hedgerow Bistro is incorporating a daily special starting this week. Today we had a Roasted Portobello
Sandwich which was simply delicious.
Other specials yet to be seen will be lamb burgers, kebabs, heirloom
tomato and fresh mozzarella salad (right), and English “Fish and
Chips” Fridays will be restored.
Also,
we will be revamping the lunch menu in the next month or two, so keep your
eyes peeled for the fun new menu items! |

Helen Philpott, Owner and Floral Director
My favorite fall poem: To Autumn - by John Keats SEASON of mists and mellow fruitfulness, Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun; With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run; To bend with apples the moss’d cottage-trees, And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core; To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells With a sweet kernel; to set budding more, And still more, later flowers for the bees, Until they think warm days will never cease, For Summer has o’er-brimm’d their clammy cells. |

New clock hands cast at the English Hedgerow Foundry
As
many of you know, the historic Champaign County Courthouse, located on It was in 1883, when the Seth
Thomas clock was installed in the third Local skilled tradesmen and
engineers donated time to get its old clock back into working order. |
|
We at
English Hedgerow were proud to be a small part of this team. Helen’s husband, a mechanical
engineer and hobbyist foundryman, cast the four
sets of clock hands, making patterns from the original prints. |
